What is A Cloud in Trousers?

A Cloud in Trousers features essays on food, mostly, because my appetite for thinking about the rituals of eating and drinking can never be satisfied. There may also be musings about old books that have been mostly forgotten. Photos, occasionally, but not many of those. A regular round-up of essays and articles that have caught my attention – the kind of writing I aspire to. Plus, I’ll keep you updated with ~personal news~, if there’s anything worth telling you about.

Who writes this?

A Cloud in Trousers is by Nadia Bailey, a writer and editor based in Melbourne, Australia. If you’d like to find out more about me, or read my published work, you can do so here.

What’s with the name?

It’s a line from a Russian poet, Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893–1930), from a poem of the same name:

If you really want

I’ll be irreproachably sweet:

not a man but a cloud in trousers.
